La pasta di farro bianco Biona Organic Penne proviene da uno dei cereali più antichi coltivati, un antico cugino del grano: il farro. Il farro è ricco di fibre, ha un contenuto più elevato di proteine e vitamine rispetto al grano e, sebbene non sia senza glutine, è spesso tollerato da alcune persone con allergie al grano.
Cooked up al dente in about nine minutes and it held its shape perfectly in a creamy sauce, no mush at all. The texture has a nice bite that regular pasta just doesn't give me, and I feel better knowing it's packing more protein and fibre than my usual penne.
The cooking time was spot on and the texture held up beautifully even after a quick reheat the next day. I can really taste the difference in that nutty, ancient grain flavor, and the protein content is a nice bonus for a pasta.
This has become my go-to pasta for weeknight dinners, the higher protein and fibre honestly makes it feel a bit more substantial than regular stuff. It cooks up firm without going mushy, and I’m glad the 500g bag is enough for a couple of meals for two.
